Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important representative commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
