Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
